PermanentWe are seeking a Workshop Supervisor to oversee our machine shop operations in Cheddar. This role is crucial for ensuring that work is completed in a timely manner, including assigning and explaining daily tasks to machinists, monitoring work progress, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
Day-to-day of the role:
Oversee personnel operating machines, ensuring cost-effective deployment of resources (labour and material) to achieve plans.
Ensure all necessary components are available to meet production requirements.
React to situations as they arise to achieve the company's objectives.
Supervise the team, manage discipline, timekeeping, and absence.
Provide training and plan workflow to meet customer requirements.
Communicate in a concise and timely fashion.
Review samples, drawings, or instructions to understand specifications of output.
Read and interpret CAD drawings to select correct machinery and position or load material for a job.
Determine and program size of batches, speed of machine etc., and monitor machine during operation to adjust feed, maintain temperature, and identify issues.
Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects.
Keep records of approved and defective units or final products.
Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages.
Operate Lathes, pillar drills, and CNC machines.
Maintain safe operation of equipment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience as a machinist.
Experience with machine tools or mechanical assembly.
Ability to use and/or program manual, semi-automated, or automated tools and machines.
Ability to use precision tools (e.g., callipers) to take accurate measurements.
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
Good mathematical and analytical abilities.
Knowledge of speeds, feeds, safety protocols, and PPE.
Attention to detail with excellent communication skills.
Resource planning and machine shop planning experience.
Computer skills (MS Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Benefits:
