Are you an experienced Project Engineer ready to take ownership of complex, high-value engineering projects from initial handover through to successful offshore installation? We’re looking for a driven and collaborative Project Engineer to join our Aberdeen-based team and play a key role in delivering industry-leading results for our clients.
About the Role
As Project Engineer, you will take full responsibility for controlling and delivering a portfolio of technically challenging projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule and within budget. You’ll act as the focal point for both internal teams and external clients, providing expert technical guidance, strong commercial awareness and confident leadership throughout the full project lifecycle.
You’ll also have the opportunity to support and develop project engineers and graduates within the team, helping to build capability and drive high performance across the wider engineering function.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Leadership
* Take full ownership of assigned projects post-handover, leading them through to offshore installation and close-out.
* Ensure project KPIs are met, including cost control, timely delivery and high levels of client satisfaction.
* Drive progress with energy and focus, managing the full schedule, identifying critical path items and ensuring all QA/QC requirements are captured.
* Act as the “go-to” technical and commercial point of contact for complex, high-value projects.
* Lead Project Kick-Off sessions, design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP meetings and project progress reviews with senior management.
* Monitor and manage project risks—commercial, contractual, technical and schedule—and escalate when appropriate.
Technical & Commercial Management
* Prepare user requirements, project documentation, manuals and support bid preparation in collaboration with Sales.
* Oversee material and service procurement to meet project demands, raising enquiries and purchase requisitions as needed.
* Ensure financial systems reflect real-time progress, forecasting accurately and highlighting variations early.
* Manage engineering and construction contracts, helping to reduce, monitor and control commercial and technical risk.
* Review and approve technical drawings, reports and documentation.
People & Stakeholder Engagement
* Provide line management to assigned engineers, offering coaching, mentoring and supporting their development.
* Liaise confidently with clients, third-party bodies and internal departments to ensure smooth and successful project delivery.
* Support colleagues in Sales and Operations by offering technical expertise when needed.
* Represent the business during client visits and technical presentations.
General Duties
* Ensure all activities adhere to internal policies, procedures and relevant ISO standards.
* Contribute to Duty Manager responsibilities and provide holiday cover for senior management when required.
* Uphold high standards of HSE performance and statutory compliance across all project activities.
