CNC Milling machine programmer/ Setter/ Operator
We are seeking a skilled Cnc milling machine programmer/Setter/Operator to join our machine shop in Long eaton. This role involves programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce high quality, low volume, small batch components. The position requires precision, efficiency and a strong focus on quality to support our reputation as a market leader in the design and manufacture of technical teaching equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Program, set and operate CNC milling machines (preferred HAAS) to produce precision engineering products.
* Create CNC programs, jigs and fixtures for new components.
* Optimize machining methods to ensure components are produced in the most efficient manner.
* Set and run multiple machines where applicable to maximize productivity.
* Self‑inspection of components using manual measuring equipment, verifying that all work meets drawing specifications and quality standards, and promptly identifying and reporting any issues affecting quality and efficiency.
* Contribute to process improvements and provide feedback to enhance machining methods and efficiency; work with engineering teams to resolve technical queries relating to new and existing components.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and organized working environment in line with company health and safety.
Skills and Qualifications
* Proven experience in programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines, HAAS preferred.
* Apprentice trained or equivalent background in CNC machining within a production‑driven environment.
* Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings.
* Conventional milling/Bridgeport experience desirable.
* Experience with Edgecam programming software is advantageous.
* Flexible, positive and proactive attitude with commitment to quality.

Efficiently produce machine components within agreed timescales, maintain high quality standards for all manufactured parts, and support continuous improvement by suggesting methods to improve machining efficiency, accuracy or process flow.
07:00 - 3.30 mon - thurs and 07:00-12.30 on a Friday no lunch break.
