About the role
We are looking for a confident Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join our team at Hamilton Specialist Referrals as a Medicine & Neurology Veterinary Nurse on a full‑time or part‑time basis.
Hamilton Specialist Referrals operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, offering advanced treatment options for orthopaedic, neurology, soft tissue and internal medicine cases. The hospital includes a dedicated imaging suite with a 16‑slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla MRI, fluoroscopy, and separate radiography and ultrasound rooms.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Medicine & Neurology Veterinary Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care flexibly across these two services, supporting the case management of a variety of complex cases. You’ll work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing specialist nursing expertise to patient care, supporting clinical decision‑making, and sharing knowledge with colleagues to continually improve standards within Medicine and Neurology.
Your key duties will include supporting a wide range of investigations and medical and surgical procedures, such as endoscopy, imaging support in MRI, CT and Ultrasound, neurosurgical procedures and advanced diagnostics/sampling. A full‑time position covers 40 hours per week across a rolling six‑week rota. We offer a 4‑day working week (four 9.25‑hour shifts) plus a 1‑in‑6 weekend rota and a bank holiday rota of two days per year. Part‑time applications are also welcome.
Qualifications
You are an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with a keen interest in diversifying your clinical skills and a desire to specialise in providing gold standard care for patients with a variety of conditions. You’ll bring:
* Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
* Significant experience in clinical practice with an interest in Medical and Neurological cases
* Experience working with complex cases in a referral or advanced‑care setting is advantageous, but full training will be provided
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
* A commitment to evidence‑based practice, clinical governance and continuous improvement
