A little bit about the role:
The Senior Product Developer is part of the Product Development Department, which is the Engine Room of product, working to complete on time new development of products that are fit for purpose and to quality. Based in our head office in Christchurch, you will lead a team of apparel product developers to ensure designs are commercialised to the highest level of quality aligned to our customer expectations. Key responsibilities include;
8. Manage the Product Development of predominantly Technical Outdoor category, handling workflow based on the seasonal calendar milestones, maintaining on-time developments to critical path.
9. Responsible for technical fit execution and commercialising across the categories
10. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to ensure designs are developed to cost, based on target margin, quality and executed in accordance with the Kathmandu code and compliance
11. Communicate with vendors to ensure timely development of proto-types, salesman samples, and size sets.
12. Creates and builds respectful, collaborative partnerships to elevate our expertise and skills by sharing joint knowledge and technologies
13. Review, evaluate, and provide solutions to any identified issues highlighted during the development process, by communicating findings to Design, Product Manager and Production teams.
About you...
You will have a natural flare and ability to translate and engineer technical fit in the Outdoors, illustrating personal strength, knowledge, and expertise within activewear, knits seamless engineering, and intimates. You bring demonstrated industry experience with a medium to large outdoor apparel manufacturer, retailer, or brand with advanced knowledge of fitting, pattern making and construction expertise in woven denim and alpine.
You have experience working with offshore vendors and are familiar with PLM and well versed in Microsoft Office applications and AI. You bring demonstrated ability to create patterns using the Gerber or Lectra system, CLO 3D.
You will be passionate about the outdoor technical apparel industry and have proven all round experience across all areas of, development, and construction.
