The Opportunity
Stantec is experiencing significant growth in our water sector and is currently seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join our team in the Midlands. As a member of the Structural Engineering team, you will lead the delivery of high‑quality structural engineering projects across multiple sectors, partner with clients across the UK, and exceed their requirements through technical excellence. You will report directly to the Specialist Structural Engineering Technical Lead, develop our structural knowledge and capability, and support internal opportunities in sectors beyond water and energy. This role will be based in one of our Midlands offices with hybrid working between office and home anticipated. Your responsibilities will include carrying out structural engineering design for concrete, steel, and masonry structures, conducting structural inspections, and producing accurate reports that define asset maintenance and modification requirements to meet client and regulatory standards.
About You
In addition to previous structural design experience, you should have a good knowledge of civil and geotechnical engineering and an awareness of other engineering disciplines sufficient to enable collaborative working across Stantec. You should also have a good knowledge of construction, both temporary and permanent, and of the information requirements of construction teams in design‑and‑build projects. If you have a broad range of structural and civil engineering experience, enjoy coaching and mentoring others, and want to lead on the development of technical capability, we want to hear from you.
