About the Role Join us as a Young People Support Worker and support people facing homelessness to build stability and move forward. Based in a 12-bed service in Haringey, you’ll manage a small caseload of clients with complex needs—leading assessments, delivering tailored support plans and helping individuals sustain their accommodation and achieve positive next steps. You’ll work hands-on with clients and alongside partner agencies to provide responsive, person-centred support. From safeguarding and risk management to encouraging engagement in education, training and employment, you’ll create a safe, inclusive environment where people can rebuild confidence and independence. Please note that this job opportunity is offered as a full-time ( 37.5 hour per week ), 7 months fixed term contract role ( Rota based, including every other weekend, some late shifts and bank holidays ). KEY DELIVERABLES • You will ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service at all times, including using safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable. • You will carry a caseload of clients, and you will take responsibility, alongside the team, for the wellbeing and day to day support of all clients in the service. • You will lead on risk and needs assessment and support planning for your key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service. • You will proactively work in partnership with multiple agencies including statutory teams, to support the wellbeing of Depaul clients in accordance with data protection and information sharing protocols. • You will be flexible, reflective and creative in your engagement with clients and personalised in your support to them. • You will involve clients in the decisions made about them and encourage participation in Depaul’s wider community programme of activities and client involvement opportunities. • You will support all clients to participate in Education, Training, Employment and Volunteering opportunities as appropriate to the development of their skills, assets and aspirations. • You will have responsibilities as part of the team for ensuring the health and safety of the environment for clients, staff, visitors and volunteers through regular checks and reporting. • To complete reports following serious incidents and submit to appropriate manager. • You will undertake further duties as commensurate to the role, in line with Depaul Policies and Procedures and as identified by your line manager. • You will form an integral part of the team and as such attend team meetings when required. • To participate in regular training, supervision, reflective practice sessions and annual appraisal, and help in identifying your own job-related development and training needs. • To work within a psychologically informed environment to facilitate change and support clients with challenging behaviours and complex needs. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU – PERSON SPECIFICATION When completing your application form please address all the points set out below. • Experience of working with clients with mental health and or drug/alcohol dependency issues. • Ability to work with clients whose behaviour may be personally challenging. • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships and boundaries with clients. • Experience working in partnership with multi agency teams, including social workers, drug/alcohol support services and mental health professionals. • A knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Support Planning. • Ability to demonstrate clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures. • Understanding of the importance of discretion and confidentiality in relation to work and maintaining professional boundaries. • Commitment to working in a manner which promotes diversity and equality ensuring that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and no-one suffers from discrimination. • Commitment to promoting an environment which has the highest regard for the Health and Safety of others. • Effective collaborative working. • Ability to reflect on own practices for ongoing learning and development. • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate across diverse cultures and backgrounds. • Respect for the values and ethos of Depaul and its founding partners.
