Data Manager - Clinical Trials

The Cambridge Cancer Trials Centre (CCTC), a leading institution in oncology research and clinical trials, is seeking a meticulous and motivated Clinical Trials Data Manager to join our growing haematology trial delivery team.

As part of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre, the CCTC supports world-class clinical trials and translational research. In this role, you will be a key part of the team ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of data entry from a portfolio of early and late-phase haematology cancer trials.


Main duties of the job

We are looking for someone with the following skills:

Degree in a life sciences, health, or data-related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience in clinical research or clinical trial data management, preferably in oncology.

Understanding of clinical trial regulations including GCP and GDPR.

Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

Proficient in the use of data management systems and Microsoft Office tools.

Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

The main duties of the role will involve:

* Manage the submission, verification, and quality control of clinical trial data from medical records to case report forms using a variety of trial databases (e.g. Medidata Rave, OpenClinica).

Liaise with clinical trial staff, sponsors, and external collaborators to ensure timely and accurate data submissions.

Support the set-up, conduct, and closure of trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), regulatory requirements, and trial protocols.

Respond to trial data queries and contribute to trial monitoring and audit readiness.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Educated to degree level or NVQ level 4 or equivalent in a biological, physical, social or related scientific discipline OR Equivalent experience in oncology clinical trials data management
* Evidence of continuing professional development in research


Experience

* Worked in the NHS or other similar biological / scientific discipline
* Research Data Collection experience within an NHS/ biological / scientific discipline
* Experience of liaison with staff across all levels within the NHS/Universities/Industry
* Experience of dealing with difficult situations and confrontations
* Experience of working autonomously within guidelines and deadlines
* Experience of prioritising, planning and organising own tasks
* Experience of liaison with external agencies
* Experience of using patient management tools for research
* Experience of working in Cancer
* Experience of audit
* Familiarity with EPIC
* Participation at Site Initiation Visits
* Experience with using databases
* Experience in producing and presenting reports
* Experience of mentoring, facilitating or training
* Experience of using schedules of assessments within research protocols to determine trial participant requirements


Knowledge

* Sound understanding of ethical and quality standards applicable to clinical trials, including EU Directive, ICH GCP
* GCP Trained
* Confidentiality and data protection processes and procedures
* Understanding of research patient management tools
* Knowledge of medical terminology


Skills

* Well-developed organisational and communication skills
* Computer Literate and proficiency(including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
* Skills for nurturing key relationships with external agencies
* Meticulous attention to detail with a high standard of accuracy
* Attention to detail and high standard of accuracy
* Ability to adapt to change
* Ability to work under pressure
* Ability to train and mentor less experienced colleagues
* Ability to present data in clear & simple format
* Skills in handling and management of computerised data
