This role is 22.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday 9.30am-2.00pm
You will be responsible for assist maintain a high standard of cleanliness and for ensuring that a clean, safe and a comfortable environment is provided for patients, staff and visitors at all times. You will be working closely with other team members to clean ward and non – ward areas within the Hospital to a high standard.You will also be assisting transporting goods within the buildings to ward and non-ward areas and assist us in house maintenance team and or contractors with a buddy as and when required.
You will be need to have a good level of fitness as this is a physical role.
You work closely with other team members therefore it will be of benefit if you are a good Team player with good communication skills.

Main duties of the job
The Post holder will provide comprehensive multi disciplines, domestics, portering and support services to relevant buildings. The Building Operative will ensure that all equipment, tools and materials are stored in a safe manner in accordance with hospital procedures and in compliance with COSHH.

Qualifications and Training
Essential criteria
1. Good general education: reading, writing and basic numeracy skills.
2. Demonstrable knowledge of cleaning & CoSHH procedures
3. Understanding of basic maintenance tasks (e.g. changing bulbs, batteries etc.).
Desirable criteria
4. First Aid
5. NVQ 2 or equivalent experience in General Cleaning.
6. NVQ 2 or equivalent experience in customer service
Experience
Essential criteria
7. Minimum of 1 year Previous experience working in a domestic/maintenance services role within a Hospital/NHS environment.
Desirable criteria
8. Experience working in a secure environment.
9. Experience escorting contractors and staff.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
10. Good knowledge of cleaning procedures
11. Good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
12. Understanding of the correct application of manual handling techniques and working at heights.
13. Understanding of the quality aspects of service procedure and audits.
