At Avondale Foods Ltd we are recruiting for a Laboratory Manager who will be responsible for the overall leadership and operational management of the laboratory, including budget control, maintaining accreditation, equipment calibration and effective use of LIMS and record systems. The role involves managing and developing laboratory staff, coordinating internal and external testing, and ensuring timely, accurate communication of results to support business and customer needs. Additionally, the position supports audits, customer interactions, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement while maintaining high professional and compliance standards. Shift Pattern; Monday to Friday 08:00am-16:30pm What you will do; Carry out investigative sampling and observations on production floor Schedule and complete decontamination validation projects i.e. wash and cook validations. Maintain ongoing decontamination verification sampling and testing schedules, including pH and spray tunnel annual validations. Developing and maintaining external nutritional verification testing schedule Process flow of new products Inputting allergen information on AX for new products Maintain all laboratory equipment - manage equipment calibration, organise repairs to equipment as/ when required Liaise with and arrange testing by external laboratories - reviewing results in a timely manner and communicating to internal departments What we need from you; A third level Food Science or microbiology qualification Experience in a UKAS/CLAS accredited microbiological laboratory testing food, water and swabs Experience analysing results, trends and investigating out of spec results Experience of working with a Computerised Laboratory Information Management System Experience compiling and presenting data and visual trends to internal managers and customers using excel and power point Excellent communication skills to work effectively with all internal departments, local authorities and major customers Supervisory experience Manage own time and work schedules efficiently under minimal direction Show initiative with a pro-active approach Able to plan and prioritise effectively For the full Job Description visit our company website
