Your role as a Transport Operator
Location: NewCold Corby, NN17 5XN.
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 14:30.
Salary: Up to £30,750.00 (DOE).
Responsibilities
* Deliver clear and comprehensive driver briefings before each shift.
* Monitor and adjust transport schedules to ensure inbound collections, factory clearance and outbound deliveries are met.
* Carry out administrative traffic duties accurately and efficiently.
* Proactively identify and resolve potential scheduling issues in advance.
* Work collaboratively with the wider traffic team to coordinate operations effectively.
* Escalate vehicle accidents promptly and accurately report details.
* Engage with customers professionally to resolve enquiries and support excellent service.
* Meet weekly and monthly KPI targets, escalating challenges where required.
* Use IT systems including Transport Management Systems (TMS) and tracking tools to maintain accurate data and reporting.
* Record and manage driver absences, maintaining up-to-date records for operational planning.
* Verify driver licences and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Requirements
* 5+ GCSEs (or equivalent). Further qualifications in logistics or a related field are advantageous.
* Previous experience in transport logistics, administration, or customer service within a fast-paced environment is preferred.
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritise and multitask.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to work with drivers, customers and colleagues.
* Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
* Transport Manager CPC is desirable but not essential.
