University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Band 6 Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit (EPAU) Nurse Specialist to join our Women’s Health team at the Bournemouth Hospital site. This specialist role offers the opportunity to deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care to women experiencing early pregnancy complications. You will manage a defined caseload of patients presenting in the first trimester, providing expert assessment, investigation and treatment, while offering sensitive psychological support during what can be a highly emotional and challenging time, including pregnancy loss. As a Nurse Specialist within the EPAU, you will independently assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in line with national guidance and Trust-approved protocols. This will include arranging and interpreting investigations such as ultrasound scans, blood tests and pregnancy testing, administering prescribed medications, advising patients on self-management, and supporting medical management of miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy. The post is being offered as maternity cover for 9 months, but may be extended further. The shift pattern is Monday to Friday (8-4 or 8-1.30/2), with some Saturday morning clinics. The post could be offered as a full-time or part-time post (at least 3 days a week). We are looking for a registered nurse with relevant post-registration experience, ideally within gynaecology, women’s health or early pregnancy care.
