Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the Clinical Commissioning Pharmacy team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, a tertiary care centre for specialist conditions and rare diseases such as Amyloidosis, Haemophilia and Lysosomal Storage Disorders. The post holder will develop processes and systems to support the medicines commissioning agenda, resource and financial planning for the introduction of new drugs within the ICN, and for the appropriate and cost‑effective use of high‑cost drugs.
Responsibilities
* Oversee accurate data collation and communication to Contracts and commissioners to ensure appropriate financial reimbursement for tariff excluded medicines.
* Ensure all Patient Access Schemes for high‑cost medicines are acted upon appropriately, ensuring eligible patients are identified and discounts are received.
* Work collaboratively with clinical teams to deliver therapeutic switch schemes in a timely manner, e.g., introduction of biosimilars.
* Propose and implement other medicines savings initiatives.
* Manage a team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and pharmacy assistants to deliver on the medicines commissioning agenda.
* Collaborate with the ICN for financial and resource planning for new medicines.
Qualifications
Potential candidates will have extensive experience with medicines commissioning, including reimbursable medicines and Patient Access Schemes. They will be confident collaborating with and influencing stakeholders at a senior level, such as ICN leads, clinicians, Contracts and Commissioning Managers. Candidates should have experience managing a team, providing strategic leadership, and mentoring and developing staff. A meticulous level of attention to detail and the ability to deliver against key targets and objectives are required.
