Science Technician (Ark Alexandra Academy)

Hours: 36 hours per week, term time only plus 1 extra week (40 weeks per year)
Position Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dependable and conscientious individual to join our Science technician team. As a Science Technician the successful candidate will support teachers in delivering high‑quality practical work and maintain excellent health and safety standards across both campuses.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and set up practical sessions for science classes.
* Maintain laboratory equipment, stock levels, and the cleanliness of practical areas.
* Support teachers in the planning and delivery of science lessons.
* Ensure compliance with COSHH procedures and other health & safety regulations.
* Handle minor incidents, including first aid, and undertake requisite training.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across the department and maintain a professional, resilient attitude under pressure.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience, knowledge or a keen interest in a science related field.
* Well organised, adaptable, with an eye for detail.
* Knowledge of COSHH procedures and Health & Safety involving hazardous substances.
* Ability to provide first aid and undertake further training.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with young people and adults.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: Ark Support Scale 5, Pay Points 5‑12: £24,790 – £27,711 (pro‑rata).
Contract: Permanent, full time (term time only).
Actual salary pro‑rata if part‑time or term‑time only.
