We are offering a unique opportunity for an experienced Accredited Financial Investigator (AFI) to join our specialist Project Plume team — a nationally recognised, multi-agency initiative tackling cash-based money laundering investigations in the waste industry.
This role is a high‑impact position where the work will directly contribute to dismantling organised crime groups and protecting the UK’s financial and environmental systems. You will collaborate with partners such as the National Crime Agency, HMRC, Environment Agency, and the Joint Unit for Waste Crime, participating in joint operations and intelligence‑led investigations.

What You’ll Be Doing
* Lead cash‑based money laundering investigations in the waste industry as part of Project Plume.
* Prepare and present high‑quality evidential material in both criminal and civil courts.
* Collaborate with internal teams and external law enforcement and regulatory partners to develop intelligence and deliver joint operations.
* Provide support and advice to senior investigating officers on potential risks under POCA legislation, Data Protection and Human Rights for live enquiries, and gather evidence to support investigations.
What You’ll Bring To The Team
* Be a current accredited financial investigator with Part 2, Part 8 and Part 5 powers (or be within the NCA defined self‑suspension period that will enable immediate re‑accreditation with refresher courses/action plans).
* Pass the NPIA (now NCA) Accredited Financial Investigation Course.
* PIP level 2 or equivalent.
* Demonstrable experience in financial crime investigations, including money laundering and fraud.
* Strong working knowledge of POCA, PACE, CPIA, GDPR, and other relevant legislation and investigative procedures.
Additional Information
