Overview
We are seeking a professional and fully qualified Dealership Accountant to oversee the financial operations at our clients prestigious automotive dealership based in Dartford. This role offers the opportunity to utilise your accounting expertise in a fast-paced setting, with responsibilities ranging from managing purchase ledgers to producing accurate financial reports. Responsibilities of the Dealership Accountant
1. Managing and reconciling the purchase ledger to ensure timely payment of suppliers and accurate record-keeping
2. Processing sales and purchase transactions, including vehicle deals and finance arrangements
3. Assisting with month-end and year-end accounts, including reporting and audit preparation
4. Monitoring stock levels and ensuring all vehicle costs are accurately accounted for
5. Conducting regular reconciliations of dealer cash and bank accounts
6. Pricing and valuations of vehicles in stock, ensuring accurate depreciation and cost allocations
7. Generating management reports on financial performance, gross profit, and other key metrics
8. Supporting the finance team with administrative tasks such as invoicing, invoicing follow-ups, and financial data entry
9. Ensuring compliance with FCA and dealership policies, including VAT and tax regulations
10. Collaborating with departments to resolve financial discrepancies and improve processes
Required Skills from the Dealership Accountant
11. Proven experience with Purchase Ledger management
12. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
13. Excellent numerical and analytical skills
14. Proficiency with accounting software and Drive, Pinnacle, Xero, MS Office, especially Excel
15. Attention to detail and high level of organisation
16. Effective communication skills to liaise with various departments
Nice to Have Skills for the Dealership Accountant
17. Experience as a Financial Controller or Accountant from a high paced Automotive sector
18. Knowledge of dealership accounting processes and automotive industry standards
19. Ability to adapt quickly to new systems and procedures
Preferred Education and Experience of the Dealership Accountant
20. Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)
21. Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within automotive or retail sectors
Other Requirements
22. Valid driving licence and willingness to commute within the Dartford area if required
23. Ability to commit to a Monday to Friday workweek, with regular office hours
