The Role
This role represents a rare opportunity for an experienced commercial property lawyer to take on a senior, influential position within a growing firm. The hire is driven by succession planning and offers flexibility around title and structure depending on experience.
The firm is ideally looking for a solicitor with 10+ years’ PQE who can operate at a leadership level from outset, handling complex commercial property matters while helping to guide and develop the team. There is potential for this position to progress into a Head of Department role as the firm grows.
Senior candidates will have the autonomy to shape how the commercial property team operates, contribute to strategic decisions, and play a visible role in the firm’s broader development.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading and managing a varied and technically complex commercial property caseload
* Drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex agreements, including options agreements
* Acting as a senior point of expertise within the commercial property team
* Supporting, mentoring, and developing solicitors and paralegals
* Contributing to the strategic growth of the department and wider firm
* Building long‑term client relationships through high‑quality, commercially focused advice

The Ideal Candidate
* 10+ years’ PQE in commercial property
* Strong technical capability across complex and non‑standard matters
* Experience in agricultural property is advantageous but not essential
* Demonstrated leadership ability or interest in heading up a team
* Commercially astute, collaborative, and confident working at a senior level
* Motivated by the opportunity to help shape and grow a department
