Senior Quantity Surveyor | Salary: £51,000 – £60,000 + £4,700 car allowance
Location: Doncaster (project-based)
Working Pattern: Primarily site-based
We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a portfolio of framework projects in the Doncaster area, working closely with the local authority on schemes up to £1m in value. This role is heavily site-based and would suit candidates located within a commutable distance.
This is a key commercial role, responsible for managing all commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring strong cost control, contractual compliance, and effective stakeholder engagement.
This opportunity would suit someone with solid experience in civil engineering or highways projects, who is confident leading commercial activities while supporting and developing junior team members.
Key Responsibilities:
* Commercial Management & Leadership
* Lead commercial activities across the full project lifecycle
* Support and mentor junior team members
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders
* Procurement & Supply Chain
* Prepare and manage subcontract packages
* Evaluate tenders and place subcontracts
* Ensure effective procurement across all project stages
* Support supply chain performance and delivery
* Cost Control & Reporting
* Maximise project cash flow through valuations and invoicing
* Manage variations, claims, and final accounts
* Monitor project costs and performance against targets
* Produce accurate financial reports and forecasts
* Contracts, Risk & Change Management
* Ensure compliance with contractual obligations
* Manage risk, opportunities, and change control processes
* Maintain accurate commercial records and documentation
* Provide commercial insight to support delivery teams
* Project Lifecycle Support
* Support delivery teams throughout project execution
* Ensure effective commercial processes from start to completion
* Contribute to sustainability and carbon reduction objectives
About You:
* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within construction or civil engineering
* Strong knowledge of NEC or similar contract forms
* Excellent commercial awareness and reporting skills
* Ability to lead, mentor, and support a team
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience within highways or civil engineering projects is advantageous
* Degree qualified with a minimum of 6 years’ experience preferred
