Health & Safety Manager An exciting opportunity has arisen to play a pivotal role in driving operational health and safety excellence for a Net-Zero megaproject. This leadership position requires you to establish, implement, and oversee robust health and safety procedures and protocols. Key Responsibilities: Provide proactive guidance on compliance with statutory Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements and company standards. Respond to requests for advice from colleagues and external organizations. Assist in conducting risk assessments related to Health, Safety, and Environmental aspects. Collaborate with operational teams to integrate Health, Safety, and Environmental considerations at all stages, identifying relevant control measures. Conduct monitoring and audits of company activities, offices, and work locations. Investigate incidents when necessary, and produce detailed reports identifying root causes and improvement recommendations. Liaise with authorities and external agencies as required. Establish a comprehensive training program for Health, Safety, and Environmental practices, fostering a safety culture among employees. Raise awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental issues through toolbox talks and briefings, providing training as needed. Skills & Experience: Essential: 3 years' experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental role. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and health and safety IT systems. Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work. Capability to analyze data and generate performance reports. Excellent written and verbal communication skills adaptable to various audiences. Confidence in communication with Senior Managers, Clients, and Site Personnel. Ability to drive cultural change programs across a complex operation. Familiarity with GDPR principles. Flexibility with working hours due to the 24/7 business nature. Desirable: 3 years' experience in a Health, Safety & Environmental Manager role. Proficiency in cloud-based SHE software systems. Qualifications & Knowledge: Essential: Valid Driving Licence. NEBOSH General Certificate. Membership of a professional body (e.g., IOSH). Desirable: NEBOSH Diploma. Knowledge of the transport industry. Additional Requirements: Initial travel to Somerset for training.
