Trust Links is launching ReRooted – a brand new, community-led upcycling shop and wellbeing hub that will bring creativity, sustainability, and social impact together under one roof. We're looking for a dynamic, entrepreneurial Shop Co-ordinator to bring this vision to life. This is a unique opportunity to set up and run a vibrant city-centre hub, selling upcycled furniture, crafts, plants, and more – all while supporting mental health, tackling health inequalities, and building a stronger, greener community. Working closely with a team of volunteers, you will ensure the space is welcoming and accessible to all. POST TITLE: ReRooted Shop Co-ordinator POST SALARY: £26,250 – £29,500 per annum pro rata HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week Full or part time roles may be available including evenings and weekend work. Must be available to work on Saturdays POST LOCATION: Central Southend REPORTS TO: Volunteer Services Manager RESPONSIBLE FOR: Volunteers and member placements Trust Links grows communities and transforms lives. Through our six community Growing Together community gardens across Essex, Healthy Mind Hubs, MSE Recovery College, children and youth projects, and environmental workshops, we work with more than 4,000 people each year. We work in a person-centred, grassroots and recovery-focused way, helping to save lives every day and move people on to better lives, with the support of others and the wider community. ReRooted is a new, community-led social enterprise and wellbeing hub in Southend-on-Sea, designed to tackle health inequalities through upcycling, creativity, and preventative health support. The hub will operate as a city-centre upcycling shop and host workshops, peer support groups, and signposting services. It will sell Trust Links plants, crafts and bespoke donations and may include refreshments. Recruiting and supporting a team of volunteers, including those with lived experience of mental health needs and young people, you will ensure that the shop is welcoming and accessible to all. Purpose of the Role The Shop Co-ordinator will lead the setup and day-to-day running of the ReRooted hub, ensuring it is a welcoming, inclusive, and vibrant space. They will manage retail operations, co-ordinate workshops, recruit and support volunteers, and work closely with delivery partners to provide wellbeing and signposting support. Key Responsibilities Oversee the setup, fit-out and maintenance of the retail unit Manage daily operations of the upcycling shop, including stock, sales, customer service, merchandising and shop window Manage the income through the till system, working with Finance to ensure all income and expenditure is tracked and managed securely Ensure shop targets are met through creative approaches to engaging customers Co-ordinate the delivery of creative workshops focused on crafts, repair, reuse, and sustainability Liaise with Trust Links teams and people offering donations to ensure a fresh and consistent level of stock, that items are delivered and collected and rotated in the shop Recruit, train, and support a team of volunteers, including those with lived experience, working with the Volunteer Services Manager Recruit and support young volunteers, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh scheme Maintain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all visitors Collaborate with partner organisations to deliver outreach, referrals, and health campaigns Monitor and report on engagement, wellbeing outcomes, and enterprise income using digital tools Collect feedback, case studies, and contribute to evaluation reports Ensure compliance with data protection policies and Safeguarding and Health and Safety requirements are met line with Trust Links Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policies and escalate concerns about wellbeing to management Ensure that services offered are accessible to all service users of the local community, promoting an inclusive approach Participate in regular supervision with Volunteer Services Manager and take responsibility for continuing self development, participating in training and development activities as appropriate Any other duties as required by the line management commensurate with the post Person Specification Essential Criteria Experience in retail, social enterprise, or community project co-ordination Strong organisational and leadership skills Ability to engage and support volunteers from diverse backgrounds Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Commitment to social inclusion, sustainability, and community wellbeing Experience co-ordinating workshops or group activities Business acumen Ability to work independently and as part of a team Competence in using digital tools for monitoring and reporting Desirable Criteria Experience working with people facing health inequalities, including mental health challenges, LDA, or unemployment Knowledge of upcycling, repair, or sustainability practices Familiarity with wellbeing measurement tools (e.g. S-WEMWBS, PHQ-9, CSRI) Experience working in partnership with VCSE or statutory organisations Personal qualities Commitment Tact Responsiveness Realism Honesty Enthusiasm Team Work To apply, please visit our website to download the application form and send to hr-assist@trustlinks.org www.trustlinks.org/vacancies
