Paediatric Neonate and dysphagia Speech and Language Therapist

This is an exciting opportunity for an experience therapist who wishes to expand and develop skills in paediatric dysphagia and neonatal care. Are you self-motivated, friendly and enthusiastic? Come and join our Children's Therapy Team in Northern Lincolnshire.

As part of this role you will co-lead a team of dysphagia trained Speech and Language Therapists and lead our neonatal in-reach provision. Your job clinically will be to provide expert clinical advice/ second opinions, intervention and management for a specialist complex caseload (dysphagia and neonates).

You should have experience working in paediatric dysphagia and neonates, meeting RCSLT competencies. Experience in Team leader responsibilities would be desirable; full supervision will be provided. We are able to offer this post as a stand alone post or in combination with the 0.5 wte Band 7 Neonate vacancy based at Hull Royal Infirmary.


Main duties of the job

* To take the lead in day to day clinical delivery for neonates and joint responsibility for dysphagia caseload.

o To take provide expert clinical specialist management in children's therapy relating to dysphagia and neonates.

o To be responsible for managing their own caseload and the supervision, education and assessment of students, assistants and junior therapists in their area. They will provide specialised advice to other professionals in this specific clinical area.

o To undertake evidence-based audit and research projects to further own and teams clinical practice.

Post Graduate clinical experience of working with a children and young people with dysphagia and neonates.

Understanding and applying local and national policy relating to patient/client/client group.

Demonstrates clear commitment to a team approach; exchanging ideas, supporting and working with others.

Ability to work under pressure and work to deadlines.

Motivated and enthusiastic.

The applicant will need to have access to transport and the ability to safely transport yourself and equipment around the required geographical area during the course of their working day


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Relevant degree in Speech and Language Therapy
* HCPC registered
* Post graduate qualification in paediatric dysphagia
* Neonatal qualifications at post graduate level
* Member of relevant CEN


Experience

* oDemonstrates compliance with RCSLT neonate and dysphagia competencies (Specialist)
* oPost Graduate clinical experience of working with a children and young people with dysphagia at post graduate level
* oClinical experience as an autonomous practitioner for management of Paediatric Neonate and dysphagia caseloads
* Knowledge of and experience of use of specialist assessments
* oEvolving or established skills in videofluoroscopy (VFS) in order to support the service for the acute paediatric/neonatal population
