We are inviting expressions of interest for Three Non-Executive Director (NED) positions. In this position, you will work primarily with the Chair of the Unity Board, the Executive Leadership Team, the Executive Directors, and Non-Executive members to provide an independent view. You will have the opportunity to advise and guide us based on your experience across different sectors, offering a blended, inclusive view at the executive level. You will provide creative input, contribute to Board Meetings, and, where appropriate, offer constructive challenge to ways of working, processes, and procedures.
We are specifically looking for a candidate with a senior-level background in insurance broking, Insurance Marketing, or Strategic insurance experience. Your expertise in this area will be invaluable in providing strategic insights and guidance to the board.
Key Accountabilities
· This is an FCA-regulated role.
· Bring an external, independent perspective and advise the Board accordingly
· Assist in setting and revising strategy and objectives
· Approve annual budget and accounts
· Challenge executive directors and the senior leadership team on their decision-making
· Scrutinise the performance of management against the objectives and values of the company
· Advise on risk management and internal control frameworks
· Advise on systems which support the integrity and quality of management information
· Advise on governance arrangements and assist with succession planning
· Any other accountabilities commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the job
Experience
· Senior executive-level broker background.
· Strategic management or business development role, preferably in a consultancy organisation
· Director of a company which has undergone sustained growth (Executive or Non-Executive
· Executive)
· Strategy development, governance, business development and operational experience
· Experience in Scouting is desirable
Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
· Extensive experience in a senior executive brokerage role
· Able to evidence competence and capability to perform the role as per FIT 2.2 in the FCA handbook.
· Gravitas to be respected internally and externally
· Ability to engage constructively with senior management and to challenge on complex issues in a non-confrontational way
· Successful motivator of senior management
· Clear and enthusiastic communicator; verbal and written
· Strategic thinker and business development orientation
· Understanding of systems and risk management
· Good understanding of management accounts and related management information
· Scouting experience desirable

Other essential criteria
The Unity Board will meet at least 4 times a year, with two meetings held digitally and the others face-to-face in a Central London location. There is a requirement to read papers and contribute to occasional discussions and specific input on issues between meetings. These appointments would typically be for three years (subject to a 6-month review), extendable by mutual consent for a further three years.
