Software Engineer (Security Data and AI)
Salary: £48,987 - £54,430
Location: Leeds
Hours: Full-time – 35 hours per week
Working Pattern: Hybrid – at least two days per week in the Leeds office.
Join our engineering team to contribute to the "Security Data and Artificial Intelligence" lab, part of the Chief Security Office (CSO). Lloyds Banking Group is advancing its digital transformation and focuses on keeping customers, colleagues, and assets safe from threats. You will be part of a dynamic team developing the design, development, and maintenance of software applications that drive real impact.
Responsibilities
* Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code while learning standard methodologies through code reviews and team discussions.
* Collaborate with senior engineers to understand project requirements, fix bugs, and build high‑quality software.
* Maintain and troubleshoot applications to keep them running efficiently.
* Perform root cause analysis, enhance security, and ensure software reliability.
* Monitor live service support, identify bugs, and maintain smooth operations.
* Stay ahead of industry trends, sharpen coding skills, and grow in an agile environment.
* Maintain an open and adaptive outlook – being constantly curious and willing to engage in lab and platform activities.
Qualifications
* Primary programming languages: Python, Bash scripting.
* Experience designing Agentic AI solutions, preferably in a cyber‑security context.
* Quality engineering skills, especially test automation.
* Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) or ELT design principles.
* Understanding of the data lifecycle.
* Collaboration skills capable of persuading and coordinating varied teams toward a common goal.
* Experience building secure systems while following enterprise security and compliance guidelines.
* Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non‑technical audience.
Preferred Experience
* DevOps engineering, ideally GCP, but open to other cloud platforms.
* Knowledge of Kubeflow deployments or experience delivering AI platforms such as Vertex AI.
* Experience with GCP Cloud Composer, GKE, Cloud Storage, Cloud Pub/Sub, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines using Harness, GitHub, and Agile practices.
