Job overview

We are recruiting for a Respiratory Clinical Nurse Specialist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

The Respiratory nurse team are part of a hugely successful Acute Chest Team (ACT service). This service ensures patients are seen at the right time in the right place by the right people. The team also run complex clinics including Oxygen, Sleep, COPD, Asthma, Biologics, TB, CPAP and general respiratory reviews.

They will take part in nurse led clinic which may include diagnostic COPD, Oxygen reviews, Asthma, TB, ACT, Sleep and other respiratory conditions.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work with patients suffering with respiratory conditions and assist in developing a seamless service spanning outpatient, ambulatory and inpatient care including the Acute Chest Team (ACT) within the Trust and liaison and support for community and primary care colleagues

You will work closely with the Respiratory Nurse Specialists, Respiratory Physicians, and the multi-disciplinary Respiratory Care Team, providing specialist advice for patients, carers, and staff and helping to develop services across the Trust and within community and primary care.

You will be in a team of highly dedicated staff. You will have opportunities to take part in research including presenting at local and nationally to be able to deliver this you will be supported in any training needs.

You'll also play a part in the development of the respiratory service in order to ensure that it moves forward in line with national guidelines.

Qualifications/Training


Essential criteria

* Registered nurse on part 1, part 2 or part 12 of the NMC register
* Degree level education or equivalent experience Post RGN specialist accredited course
* Enhanced clinical skills qualification or equivalent experience NMP or working towards


Desirable criteria

* Master level education or working towards


Previous Experience


Essential criteria

* An extensive post registration experience with considerable experience working at a senior level within respiratory nursing, within a managerial or specialist nursing field at Band 6


Desirable criteria

* Budget management, recruitment & selection experience, responsible for staff appraisal
* Ability to lead and manage change
* Participation in service development and delivering change Nurse led clinics within respiratory care


Skills


Essential criteria

* Good assessment skills
* Willingness to deliver teaching at local and national level
* Evidence of involvement with audit
* Advanced negotiation, communication and counselling skills
* Ability to deal with clinical governance issues Assertiveness and autonomy
* Sound organisational skills


Desirable criteria

* Advanced top to toe assessment
* Motivational interviewing training and experience
* Analytical skills
* Management experience
