Overview
Internal applicants: this role will be offered as a 12‑month secondment. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Diabetes Team Lead to join the Sefton Community Diabetes Team, providing strong operational leadership and day‑to‑day support to staff. The post holder will be expected to offer visible, compassionate leadership, consistently role‑modelling Mersey Care values and helping to foster a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing team culture. While previous experience or knowledge of diabetes care would be beneficial, it is not essential. The primary focus of this role is on delivering effective operational leadership, supporting clinical colleagues, and ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of services. Training and development will be provided to support the successful candidate in developing the relevant clinical understanding and confidence required for the role.
Responsibilities
* Provide strong operational leadership and day‑to‑day support to staff within the Sefton Community Diabetes Team.
* Demonstrate visible, compassionate leadership and role‑model Mersey Care values to foster a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing team culture.
* Lead and support clinical colleagues, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of services.
* Utilise leadership, communication, and organisational skills to take initiative and work autonomously to guide, support, and develop the team while maintaining high‑quality patient care.
* Support the continued development of the Sefton Diabetes Service and contribute to service improvement.
Service Area
The successful candidate will work across Sefton, providing leadership and oversight to services delivering care to patients in Southport, Formby, and South Sefton.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Proven leadership and management experience.
* Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills with the ability to take initiative and work autonomously.
* Experience in diabetes care is beneficial but not essential.
* Flexibility and commitment to supporting clinical colleagues and ensuring high‑quality patient care.
