Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for an out of hours Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our dedicated 24/7 AMHP service.
You will be entitled to a £2,500 (per annum) AMHP allowance.
In addition to the salary advertised, you will receive a market premium of £525 per annum.
You will also be entitled to a 30% out of hours enhancement in addition to basic salary plus double time for bank holidays.

About us
The Bucks AMHP service is part of the section 75 arrangement currently in place between Buckinghamshire Council and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. It has recently been appraised as ‘good’ by an external audit undertaken earlier in 2025. The AMHP service is currently located within a health service setting (Whiteleaf Centre, Aylesbury) and managed by a partnership arrangement between the Council and Oxford Health.
We are committed to supporting a centralised service which is sensitive to meeting the complex needs of people requiring assessment under the Mental Health Act (1983) in a responsive and professional manner whilst promoting the wellbeing of a highly trained and competent workforce.
About the role
The Buckinghamshire AMHP service has an effective and highly supportive service structure, resulting in improved response times for service users and their families. We are a small, friendly, supportive team and strive to consistently deliver the highest standards of practice.
You will be working from an office base in Aylesbury and from home undertaking Mental Health Act Assessments across Buckinghamshire.
The AMHP service is committed to developing our workforce where we receive excellent supervision, support, training and development opportunities from Bucks Council, Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and from Thames Valley AMHP Training Consortium.
Fixed:
As a ‘fixed’ worker, you’ll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you’ll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.

About you
You must have an AMHP qualification along with a recognised Community Psychiatric Nurse, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Psychology qualification. In addition, you must have a valid warrant to practice as an AMHP.
