Student Dental Nurse

We are looking for 6 Student Dental Nurses who are dedicated and committed to work toward the National Examining Board for Dental Nurses (NEBDN) Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing (RQF). Upon successful achievement of the qualification, you can use it for UCAS points to further your career. Successful applicants will be fully supported by experienced Dental Nurse Tutors and nursing staff and will receive theoretical and practical teaching alongside clinical experience. The course runs for 18 months, commencing October 2026. The job may close early if significant applications are received.
Main duties of the job
Assisting the dental staff to reassure and inform patients of further treatment and appointments; being aware of language and culture issues and dealing with these sensitively; preparing dental materials, instruments, and equipment for each clinic and cleaning used items safely; assisting with treatment of patients in accordance with all Trust policies; assisting patients receiving Relative Analgesia, Intravenous Sedation or General Anaesthetic treatment and providing pre‑ and post‑operative care; washing, sterilisation, disinfection and storage of dental instruments and equipment in line with UHBW cross infection policies; providing dental assistance and cover across many sites including outreach community clinics; and promoting a professional and responsible manner at all times, conforming to the Trust's uniform policy and Core Values.
General duties (under supervision)
Working under supervision of the Senior Dental Nurses to ensure the smooth operational running of the department; undertaking general cleaning of surfaces and equipment; dealing safely with hazardous and toxic waste; and taking direction and additional duties as required by Senior Dental Nurses and Dental Nurse Tutor within the Scope of Practice of a Dental Nurse.
