Analytical Chemist - Animal Sports Anti-Doping

LGC ASSURE Sports & Specialised Analytical Services is an internationally recognised world-class testing laboratory that specialises in banned substance and anti-doping testing. We operate in 3 key categories: Animal sports medication and doping control, Human drug testing, and Supplement testing and product certification.
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, proactive Scientist to join our Animal Sports team!
Working within a collaborative, project-based environment, you will contribute to the development, validation and application of analytical methods to support anti-doping and medication control in animal sports.
Responsibilities
* Supporting the design, development, validation, and execution of analytical methods using chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques (primarily LC-MS and GC-MS)
* Interpreting scientific data and delivering clear, high-quality reports and presentations
* Managing your work effectively to deliver projects on time and in line with client requirements, regulatory standards, and quality systems
* Carrying out a range of analyses and investigations to support method development and continuous improvement
* Working collaboratively with colleagues to share ideas, solve problems, and contribute to team objectives
* Contributing to improvements in efficiency, quality, and overall laboratory performance
We are looking for someone who is adaptable, organised, and works well both independently and as part of a team. You will bring a positive approach to your work, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities to deliver high-quality outcomes.
Qualifications
* BSc (or equivalent) in an appropriate subject
* Sound scientific knowledge with some practical experience of chromatography and mass spectrometry particularly LC-MS techniques (GC-MS would be an additional bonus)
* Operationally aware and able to contribute to improvements in output and efficiency
* Team worker, able to work flexibly and with initiative to bring forward ideas
* Knowledge of doping control practices in relation to animal sports
* Experience of method development
* Knowledge of quality systems (ISO 17025) is desirable
* Knowledge of immunoassay techniques is desirable
