We are looking to appoint a dedicated and experienced tutor to work with secondary-aged pupils who are currently out of school and require bespoke, 1:1 educational support.
These young people may have experienced significant gaps in their education and face a range of challenges including Special Educational Needs (SEN) such as:
* SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs)
* Autism
* Global Developmental Delay
* Other complex or co-occurring needs
Many of the pupils may be working well below age-related expectations and require a patient, trauma-informed and highly adaptable approach to learning. Your role will be to reignite their engagement with education, build trust and confidence, and either support reintegration into a school setting or help identify and work towards vocational or career-focused pathways.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver high-quality, personalised tuition tailored to each pupil’s individual needs and EHCP outcomes
* Work in a variety of settings – tuition may take place in the home, online or in-school, depending on circumstances
* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils, parents/carers and wider professionals
* Maintain clear, accurate and daily records, including attendance and detailed session reports showing progress and distance travelled
* Contribute to wider reintegration planning and multi-agency meetings as needed
Requirements:
* Proven experience working with vulnerable secondary-aged pupils, especially those with SEN and complex needs
* A good understanding of trauma-informed practice and strategies to support behaviour and emotional regulation
* Able to work independently and flexibly, while maintaining clear communication with the wider team
* Experience in delivering core subjects, with creative approaches to engagement
* Enhanced DBS and up-to-date safeguarding training (or willingness to obtain)
