Job overview
We are looking to recruit a Resident Doctor Wellbeing Fellow for 12 months from October 2025. The role willl work alongside the Consultant Lead for Resident Doctor Wellbeing.
The role includes working 8 hours per week and is designed for a current Resident or Trust Doctor at registrar level to undertake one day a week alongside their clinical work.
Main duties of the job
The focus is to act as an intermediary with senior staff in the hospital to facilitate and promote pastoral support initiatives for resident doctors within the trust. The candidate will have good communication skills, empathy and be able to work on their own initiative and within the wellbeing team. They will have experience of the lives of resident doctors having worked alongside them and are best placed to understand the challenges. The role will involve cohort-level interventions (including delivery of pastoral support teaching and engagement with Resident Doctor Forum), as well as 1:1 support.
The role also involves running an enhanced support program for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) including facilitating the IMG network, co-ordination of a mentoring scheme and participating in the trust working group to improve IMG induction. Work with the Consultant pastoral support lead to raise awareness of services within and externally to the hospital

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
* Medical Degree
* Post-graduate qualification in education, supervision, mentoring and/or coaching
Experience
* Experience working in a clinical role within the NHS
* Understanding of medical education hierarchy, occupational health, and/or human resources, and systems in place for supporting junior doctors
* Previous training in mental health e.g. attendance at mental health first aider course or similar
