About The Role
Support the survey manager in the delivery of all survey requirements for the project as the technical/operational lead. On larger projects, serve as the survey manager for a section of works supported by a team. Tasks include engineering control, topographic survey, engineering surveying, and setting out. Provide construction information to the site team, assist in QA/QC, and support H&S and sustainability initiatives within the survey department.
What you'll be doing
1. Deputise for the ESM as required, liaising with the project management team.
2. Implement a standardised approach to survey data capture and deliverable creation across the project.
3. Produce deliverables within strict deadlines according to the site programme.
4. Collect survey field data, process it, and issue to clients or stakeholders in the agreed formats.
5. Ensure site-specific tolerances are met for survey operations.
6. Ensure safe and secure storage of all historical survey data.
7. Manage, mentor, and supervise survey teams, ensuring adherence to company procedures.
8. Participate in recruitment and manage the employee lifecycle.
Health, Safety, and Environment
1. Ensure safe working practices for self and team.
2. Identify hazards and raise observation cards.
3. Provide daily safety briefings, including WPP, RA, and TBS.
Engineering Control
1. Conduct checks on survey equipment according to standards.
2. Perform QA on design deliverables before construction release.
3. Provide site engineers with information from design deliverables.
4. Review survey checks throughout construction.
Quality
1. Complete QA records as required.
2. Manage production of as-built drawings from survey data.
3. Ensure compliance with hold point checks per ITP procedures.
Commercial
1. Manage survey records to support project management.
2. Advise on equipment procurement, staffing, and training needs.
3. Contribute to program and budget planning, liaising with SLT.
4. Communicate with clients and supply chain partners.
5. Be aware of commercial risks.
Who we're looking for
* Relevant degree or equivalent in Geospatial engineering, Land surveying, Engineering surveying.
* Valid CSCS, SMSTS, and membership or working towards membership of CICES or RICS.
* Ability to work collaboratively and with an advanced understanding of design, construction, and surveying.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office.
* Experience managing site survey teams and checking design deliverables.
* Knowledge of machine control systems, settlement monitoring, geodetic requirements, and latest survey equipment and software.
* Experience establishing GNSS networks.
