Overview
Mobile Building Services Engineer (Electrical Bias) – Salary: Up to £48,000 per year; Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm; Contract: Permanent, Full-time; Location: Central & Greater London (within the M25); Call-Out Rota: 1 week in 7 (24/7/365 rotational cover); Overtime: Time and a half or double time, plus £150 standby allowance; Head Office: Bishop’s Stortford.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Mobile Building Services Engineer (Electrical Bias) to support a portfolio of commercial and residential sites across Central and Greater London. This role focuses primarily on electrical maintenance, compliance, and fault resolution, while also providing multi-skilled support across wider building services when required. You will attend multiple sites daily, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in line with current regulations.
Key Responsibilities
* Planned, reactive, and statutory electrical maintenance
* Fixed wire testing (EICR), PAT testing, and statutory inspections in line with 18th Edition (BS7671)
* Maintenance of lighting, power distribution, emergency lighting, fire alarm interfaces, and control systems
* Fault diagnosis, isolation, and repair
* Small installation works, upgrades, and modifications
* Completion of all certification and compliance documentation
* Responding to electrical emergencies promptly and safely
* Supporting basic mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC tasks when required
* Maintaining accurate job records and providing professional client updates
* Ensuring full compliance with health & safety regulations
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or Maintenance (or equivalent)
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
* City & Guilds 2391 (Inspection & Testing) or equivalent
* Full UK driving licence
Experience
* Proven experience in electrical maintenance across commercial or residential sites
* Competence in inspection, testing, fault finding, and repairs
* Experience with both planned preventative maintenance and reactive callouts
Skills & Attributes
* Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
* Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical manuals
* Clear communication and reporting skills
* IT literate (mobile devices and job management systems)
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
* Professional, reliable, and customer-focused
* Physically fit and comfortable working at height or in confined spaces
