Chief Technologist/Radiographer – Nuclear Medicine
An exciting leadership opportunity is available for a motivated and enthusiastic Chief Technologist/Radiographer in Nuclear Medicine. This role spans both Castle Hill Hospital and Hull Royal Infirmary, requiring flexibility to work across sites.
We are looking for a skilled and dedicated professional with strong leadership and management capabilities to join our multidisciplinary team. You will work closely with two Band 7 staff and the Modality Lead to deliver high-quality nuclear medicine imaging and therapy services.
The department fosters a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and service development. The successful candidate will oversee two SPECT/CT systems, a Gamma Camera, and support radiopharmacy and GFR services. A new state-of-the-art SPECT/CT system is currently being installed.
Additionally, a PET/CT service operated by Alliance Medical is located adjacent to the department at Castle Hill Hospital, with support provided by the Nuclear Medicine team.
Looking ahead, a new Molecular Imaging Research Centre (MIRC) is set to open in 2025 at Castle Hill Hospital. This facility will include a radiopharmacy, blood labelling suite, GE GENtrace cyclotron, and PET radiotracer synthesis labs, producing GMP-grade radiopharmaceuticals for both clinical and research use
The work is varied and demanding with an emphasis on accuracy, reliability and adaptability, requiring a high level of manual dexterity and accuracy. The post holder must be able to prioritise demanding clinical, staff support, research and teaching workloads.
The post holder must be experienced in the delivery of Nuclear Medicine with experience of staff management/staff training.
You will support a multidisciplinary team of Radiologists, Cardiologists, Radiographers, Technologists, Scientists, Support Workers, Admin & Clerical and Nursing staff.
As a key member of the Nuclear Medicine Team you will deputise for the Modality Lead and support the daily running of the department. The post holder has highly specialised skills to work independently with a range of equipment, optimising the quality of results produced by imaging.
The department is made up of a diverse team of staff and is an accredited training centre committed to training and research. We host students on under- and post- graduate schemes therefore a teaching qualification would be an advantage.
You will work closely with other scientific, medical and technical staff in a high pressure environment where accuracy and safety is crucial. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are therefore essential. You must be committed to the HUTH NHS Trust Vision and Values, and be motivated to learn and share new ideas for improving the patient experience and service.
