The purpose of the role is to develop grant applications and externally funded projects to grow the portfolio of axSpA research and innovation at the RUH and, if appropriate, contribute to larger rheumatology-wide projects and cross-departmental knowledge sharing. However, the focus is axSpA. Strategic grants may use axSpA as a proof-of-concept, with intention for expansion to other conditions, specialties, or settings.
Overall this will involve identifying suitable grant opportunities, working with colleagues and external partners to develop project outlines and communicating them through well written applications agreed by the team to tight deadlines.
For successful grants the role will include delivery as both an expert researcher and project manager, followed by dissemination and leading implementation and impact to change practice.
Main duties of the job
To develop a sustainable 10-year RUH axSpA research strategy and programme, to enhance axSpA research capacity and income to RUH R&D.
To initiate, develop, implement and oversee specialist axSpA research and innovation activities within the RUH, and with external collaborations on behalf of the RUH, to improve axSpA patient care and service provision.
Initiate and strengthen external collaborations with public and private stakeholders and within national/ international networks. Thereby, raising the research profile of the
Communicate research findings to a diverse range of stakeholders at meetings, conferences, via peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, reports and other media.
