Job summary

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for a permanent Band 2 Health Care Support Worker to work on the Discharge Waiting Area.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining patient flow across the Trust by facilitating smooth and efficient patient discharge.

Working with the team, the post holder will ensure safe and timely transfer of discharges to the unit and more importantly, a positive patient experience through the delivery of high standard of patient care.

You will be supported by, and will work closely with DWA In Charge and DWA Coordinator.

The Discharge Waiting Area is now 24/7.

Main duties of the job

Facilitate transfer of patients from the base ward to DWA

Support the Registered Nurse/AP in the day to day running of the Discharge Waiting area.

Ensure that the patients are receiving optimal care whilst under the care of DWA

* Good general education; GCSE passes (or equivalent) in English and Maths
* Care Certificate or commitment to undertaking and achieving the Care Certificate within initial twelve weeks
* ICT basic skills

* Vocational qualification at Level 2 in Health, Health and Social Care or sector related subject area

* Experience of working / communicating with the general public
