Retail Assistant (Part-time) United Grand Lodge of England is looking to hire a Retail Assistant to work in the Shop at Freemasons Hall on a part-time basis. Background UGLE is the governing body of Freemasonry in England, Wales, the Channel Islands, the Isles of Man consisting of 48 Provinces roughly based on the old county boundaries and 32 Districts overseas. English F reemasonry is a membership organisation of175,000 people meeting in more than 7,000 Lodges across the globe. Membership is open to any man over the age of 18 irrespective of their background, race or religion, with students also able to join one of 87 University Scheme Lodges. The largest Province in UGLE is Metropolitan in London with many Lodges meeting at Freemasons Hall in Covent Garden which also serves as the Headquarters for English Freemasonry worldwide. Freemasons Hall is a unique art deco building which can date its origins back to 1769 when Freemasons first started meeting at this site. The current building was completed in 1933 as a memorial to those who died in the Great War. It houses 22 meeting rooms including some unique spaces regularly used for major international events and as film locations. The Hall itself provides a magnificent meeting place for UK and international masonic lodges. It is open to both Freemasons and the general public who are provided with both self-guided audio tours as well as guided tours of the facilities. The Museum of Freemasonry with one of the finest collections of masonic artefacts and archives in the world, is housed within the building. Purpose of the Job: The purpose of this role is to deliver outstanding omnichannel customer service, whilst contributing to the achievement of sales, profit and margin budgets through supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of all retail areas, including accurate processing of online orders and till transactions, and assisting customers with sales inquiries. Key Responsibilities Support the achievement of monthly and annual sales, profit and shrinkage targets. Deliver a consistently high standard of customer service, achieving agreed mystery shop and customer feedback scores, and respond positively and professionally during busy periods. Proactively engage customers to maximise sales opportunities and increase average transaction value, using cross/up selling. Accurately process all transactions, refunds and exchanges in line with company procedures, Pick, pack and dispatch online orders accurately within agreed service levels (SLAs). Become an expert in our products and keep up to date with product changes. Ensure the shop is sufficiently stocked, merchandised and always maintained to agreed visual standards, including keeping the store clean and tidy. Participate in stock-takes and perpetual cycle counts, reporting any issues and damages. To always follow retail cash handling and security procedures. Move and handle stock safely, including lifting and transferring deliveries between storage and shop floor areas in line with manual handling guidance Skills Excellent customer service Excellent verbal communication in English Good personal presentation Ability to work effectively as part of a team Flexibility and adaptability Ability to help maximise tours and shop sales and visitor donations Ability to learn new information quickly Physical ability to move boxes, stock, carry out guided tours and patrol galleries for extended periods Salary: £4,800 gross per annum based on working 1 day per week (£24,000 FTE) plus the following benefits package: Private medical cover Pension (3.5% employee & 9% employer contributions increasing to 12% with length of service) Life Assurance Holiday (25 days increasing to 30 days with length of service) pro rata for PT staff Interest free season ticket loan Gym membership (subsidised) Health and Wellbeing Benefits Flexible working Hours: The successful applicant is required to work every Saturday with flexibility to work overtime when needed. Whilst the working day will be Saturday, it is essential we have someone who has flexibility to cover for other rota days, holidays, sickness etc and will be able to work for several days in a row, or odd days now and then when we are busier.
