Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our growing team at Harvey Howell Solicitors, based in Liverpool. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent law graduate or someone early in their legal career to gain hands-on experience in a supportive, professional environment.
You will assist solicitors with the day-to-day administration of matters such as Wills, Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Estate Planning, and Probate while developing your knowledge of private client law and practice.
Key Responsibilities:
* Working directly with one of our Solicitors to provide general administrative support.
* Assist with the preparation and drafting of wills, lasting powers of attorney, and related legal documents.
* Support fee earners in the administration of estates, including helping to prepare probate applications and liaising with external parties.
* Maintain organised client files, both digitally and in hard copy.
* Handle correspondence with clients, courts, HMRC, and third parties in a professional and confidential manner.
* Manage diary entries, appointments, and key dates for the team.
* Attend client meetings (where appropriate) and take accurate notes.
* Carry out basic legal research and assist with file opening and compliance checks.
Requirements:
Essential:
* A law degree (LLB or equivalent), or currently completing a legal qualification.
* Strong administrative and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
* A professional, discreet, and empathetic approach when dealing with sensitive client matters.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desirable:
* Previous work experience (e.g. internship, work placement) in a legal or professional office setting.
* An interest in private client law (e.g. wills, probate, trusts, estate planning).
* Familiarity with legal procedures and terminology.
* Experience using a case management system (training will be provided).
