We have an exciting opportunity for a SPAR Duty Manager, who is motivated, friendly, hands-on and passionate about their store offering excellent service and standards to our customers. Reporting directly to the Store Manager you will deliver maximum sales and profit through continuous personal improvement and the provision of friendly, excellent service to customers, colleagues, and visitors.
Job Purpose:
1. As a member of the ‘Duty Manager’ team effective through all operational hours of the store, you will be responsible for supporting the Store Manager in leading and motivating a team of colleagues. You will be a member of the Store Manager’s leadership team ensuring excellent customer service, contributing to achieving store sales and profitability through ‘Brilliant Basics, Moments of Wow, Food For Later, Food For Now’.

Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
2. Supporting the Store Manager to ensure a safe, legal and high performing store, whilst taking overall responsibility for the entire store during Duty Manager shifts
3. Assisting the Store Manager to deliver all store operations, objectives and KPI’s
4. Managing, coaching and supporting colleagues, assisting in developing a motivated and empowered team through a positive, engaging management style
5. Carrying out performance management/absence management as appropriate
6. Responsible for occasional opening/closing of the store, colleague safety and stock/cash security/accountability as appropriate during shifts
7. Carrying out cash reconciliations, voids and refunds and other ‘management’ tasks for till colleagues
8. Being a role model and leading the team to work together to provide an exceptional customer experience, setting us apart from our competitors
9. Working with colleagues to promote the store by identifying and actioning opportunities to engage with and support the local community
10. Adhering to all company policies and procedures and processes
Person Specification:
11. Basic education (Numeracy and literacy)
12. NVQ Level 2-3 in Retail Skills, Customer Care or Similar is preferred but no essential.
13. Previous management or supervisor experience within a food retail or similar fast-paced operation
14. Committed to achieving and sustaining exceptional customer service standards
15. Able to plan, organise and prioritise effectively
16. Ability to communicate and influence at all levels
17. Able to take appropriate action and make decisions
18. Committed to promoting collaborative working
19. Enthusiastic and flexible with a positive attitude
