The Salvation Army is one of the largest, most diverse providers of social and community services after the Government. The Salvation Army forms part of the Christian church and boasts an extensive social remit, providing a range of social and community services, including services for children and the elderly, debt advice, those trapped in modern-day slavery, homeless people, individuals struggling with addiction, and people seeking employment.
At Cambria House we are open to single men over the age of 18. We determine how much support each service user needs to move into their own tenancy, and allow them to stay up to two years depending on their needs.
Key Responsibilities: The role of the Specialist Support Worker with The Salvation Army is critical to providing an enhanced level of service for our vulnerable clients. As an experienced Specialist Support Worker you will be responsible for taking a lead role in a specialist area or working within a specialist programme and/or team to plan and deliver a high-quality support service.
In addition, you will;
1. Take a lead in service development in the specialised area including supporting other staff in their area of work. Regularly update on your specialised area of responsibility, providing recommendations for ongoing service improvement.
2. Take a lead in complex cases in the specialist area or where specialist knowledge and expertise is required
3. Design and deliver a range of in-house support provision which clients can opt into, thereby promoting individual choice, and designed to achieve successful outcomes for clients.
4. Adopt a multi-agency approach to supporting clients including co-ordinating case conferences, involving other support providers in assessments and reviews and ensuring effective outcomes for clients.
5. Effectively signpost clients to external providers where their identified support needs cannot be met through in-house provision.
6. Support and develop Support Workers / Assistant Support Workers in their professional development and their work with clients.
7. Function as part of the management/duty management rota as and when required.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
8. Specialist knowledge and experience in the required field with strong previous experience of successfully supporting socially excluded and vulnerable people
9. A sound knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults
10. Proactive and confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships with vulnerable service users whilst maintaining strict professional boundaries.
11. Track record of engaging, developing, and delivering high quality support
12. A sound knowledge of psychologically informed environment (PIE)
13. A passion for transforming the lives of those experiencing homelessness
