Oxford City Council are now recruiting 2 Housing Officers, You are responsible for managing a housing tenancy portfolio, delivering high quality, visible, proactive and preventative tenancy services. This role involves ensuring tenants have access to support, resolving complex cases, and maintaining compliance with all aspects of statutory and regulatory obligations.
The Role
To directly manage a housing tenancy portfolio/area, delivering and coordinate all aspects of high quality, visible and accessible tenancy service, achieving targets and contributing towards high levels of tenant satisfaction.
To manage tenancies, taking full ownership of all aspects of the tenant's journey and ensuring all tenants have access to financial inclusion and support, so that they are able to meet their rental obligations and live in good quality, safe, suitable and affordable homes.
To take the initiative in seeking to resolve complex cases working with internal teams and external agencies, drive successful outcomes that benefit tenants and ensure all statutory and regulatory obligations as a landlord are reflected in day-to-day duties.
About You
Have or able to obtain a Level 3 CIH qualification or above Application; document Knowledge of welfare benefits and related issues, including Universal Credit.
Knowledge of equality and diversity issues affecting social housing tenants
Comprehensive understanding of the regulatory requirements for social housing landlords (Social Housing Act and the Regulator's Consumer Standards) and how to embed these into day-to-day practice as a housing professional.
Knowledge of the Council's legal obligations towards tenants in its landlord role - particularly those around safety and compliance
Demonstrable experience of end-to-end tenancy management of an area/portfolio, with limited supervision and direction, working autonomously and consistently delivering actions in line with policy and procedure.
Excellent interpersonal skills – experience of liaising with a range of people including registered providers, landlords, tenants, families and contractors and communicating information clearly and effectively
Good organisational skills with the ability to work systematically with a calm approach, working on own initiative consistently meeting deadlines.
