About the Role:
We're looking for a talented Design Manager to join our team in Derby. Reporting to the Design Business Lead for Waste Treatment & Bioresources North, you will play a key role in delivering Severn Trent's capital investment programme. You will lead a programme of design activity and an integrated team of Severn Trent design professionals to develop engineering solutions for a wide range of waste treatment and bioresources projects.
In this role, you will:
* Lead and mentor your team, building capability and driving performance.
* Manage resources and have financial accountability for your programme of works, approving and assuring designs in accordance with our AMP8 programme.
* Build strong relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders, shaping solutions that meet sponsor requirements.
* Champion innovation, identifying opportunities for the development and introduction of new processes and technologies.
* Put customers at the forefront, ensuring decisions create long‑term value and support high‑quality asset management.
* Act as a role model and promote positive safety leadership within the organisation and fulfil the role of Principal Designer in accordance with the CDM Regulations 2015.
What You'll Bring
Ideally degree (or equivalent) qualified in a technical engineering or design related discipline, you will have experience leading multi‑disciplinary teams, with strong skills in coaching and developing talent. You will have experience in leading design projects in a highly regulated industry such as water, gas, Petrochem or power.
You'll have excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of people. The succesful candidate will be forward-thinking, capable of anticipating challenges and responding to change in a rapidly evolving environment. You'll able to make educated judgments and decisions in the face of ambiguity, and look at the bigger picture, seeking opportunities to contribute to the wider agenda.
A full UK driving licence will be needed.
