The Service & Team:
The Community Protection Team plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and environmental standards across Cornwall. Through a combination of education, support, and enforcement, the team works with businesses, individuals, and communities to ensure compliance with parking and environmental regulations. Their work includes investigating complaints, managing technical enquiries, and addressing a wide range of community-related environmental issues. By promoting awareness and adherence to relevant laws, the team helps create a safer, cleaner, and more orderly environment for all residents
The Role

We're looking for a proactive and committed Community Environmental Enforcement Officer to join our Community Protection Team. This role focuses on tackling environmental crime—such as fly tipping, littering, waste duty of care and abandoned vehicles—through education, engagement, and enforcement.
What You'll Do
* Investigate environmental offences and take appropriate enforcement action under legislation such as the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Clean Neighbourhood & Environment Act 2005
* Conduct interviews, gather evidence, and prepare reports for legal proceedings.
* Engage with the public, businesses, and partners to raise awareness and promote compliance.
* Collaborate with agencies like the Environment Agency, Defra, and local police to improve outcomes.
* Support service planning and contribute to initiatives that improve quality and efficiency.
Working Pattern
37 hour - Monday to Friday
What You'll Need To Succeed
* A strong team player with excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Proven experience in enforcement, ideally within environmental crime.
* Ability to manage a varied caseload and work effectively under pressure.
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience, plus 5 GCSEs at Grade 5 or above.
* Confidence using Microsoft Office and other IT systems.
