Clinical Support Worker - Emergency Department
East Cheshire NHS Trust is looking to appoint enthusiastic, self‑motivated and compassionate people to join our team of Clinical Support Workers.
We currently have vacancies in:
* Emergency Department
We are looking for Clinical Support Workers who can work in a busy, challenging and rewarding environment, possess excellent communication skills, maintain a high degree of confidentiality, meet deadlines, provide excellent personal care to patients and work as part of a team.
Duties will include providing a high standard of care by attending to patients’ personal hygiene, maintaining tissue integrity and providing pressure area care, recording observations, liaising with patients’ families and the general public, and supporting colleagues to provide a positive experience for the patient.
The successful applicant must complete the necessary developmental training within an agreed timeframe to progress into the role of a Band 3 Clinical Support Worker.
We can offer a range of working opportunities covering a variety of shift patterns over a 7‑day rota including early, late and night duty.
Main duties of the job
* Providing patients with food and drink and assisting where needed
* Escorting and assisting patients in visiting the toilet, washing and getting dressed
* Supporting wound and skin management
* Recording and documenting patient observations (e.g., temperature)
* Recognising signs of deterioration and escalating any such matters promptly
* Liaising with doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, porters and social workers
* Supporting the routine of the ward, including responding to visitor and patient needs
Qualifications
* Good standard of general education
* Care Certificate or working towards it, to be completed within the first 3 months of employment
* Pass in GCSE Maths and English (4/C or above) or equivalent
* NVQ Level 2 in direct care/customer services or equivalent experience
* Successful completion of the Be AWARE to care course (or equivalent)
Knowledge & Skills
* Demonstrates good insight into roles and responsibilities of the post
* Able to demonstrate an understanding of principles of effective customer care
* Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of quality care
* Good verbal and non‑verbal communication skills; especially with people of varying levels of understanding
* Demonstrates good literacy and written skills
* Able to present factual information and refer questions to others where appropriate
* Able to deal with sensitive issues with tact and diplomacy
* Basic IT skills (e.g., use of email)
Eligibility & Requirements
Applicants must have an Enhanced DBS check, the cost of which is payable by the successful candidate. If you have lived or worked abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years, you will need to obtain an overseas police clearance.
Graduate visa holders are required to have at least 6 months remaining before the visa expires at the start of employment. This role does not meet UK Immigration Policy eligibility criteria, and therefore we are unable to provide Skilled Worker Visa Sponsorship.
