Location: Yeovil / Bristol / Luton (primarily onsite)
Contract Length: 12 months

Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced SolarWinds Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the implementation, optimisation, and ongoing enhancement of monitoring solutions within a classified Defence supply chain environment.
This is a hands‑on role suited to a skilled engineer with strong IT Operations experience, comfortable working onsite in secure environments and collaborating across infrastructure, network, and security teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of SolarWinds platforms (including Orion, NPM, SAM and NTA)
- Configure and maintain end‑to‑end monitoring solutions across infrastructure, networks, and applications
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance, availability, and monitoring issues
- Develop and maintain dashboards, alerts, and reporting aligned to operational requirements
- Identify and implement improvements to enhance visibility, efficiency, and reliability
- Work collaboratively with IT Operations, Network, and Security teams in a highly regulated environment
- Ensure all solutions comply with Defence and classified environment standards
- Produce documentation and support knowledge transfer and operational handover
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a SolarWinds SME / Engineer
- Strong technical expertise across:
- SolarWinds Orion Platform
- Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
- Server & Application Monitor (SAM)
- NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA)
- Experience working in IT Operations environments, ideally within Defence, Aerospace, or other secure sectors
- Strong troubleshooting capability across network, server, and application layers
- Experience working in security‑cleared or classified environments
- Ability and willingness to work onsite in secure location
Desirable Skills
- Experience with scripting or automation (PowerShell, Python)
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks and service management practices
- Understanding of cybersecurity considerations within monitoring tools
- Previous experience within the Defence supply chain
