As an apprentice you will develop skills, knowledge, and experience in all aspects of administration. You will receive on-the-job and formal training in addition to learning workplace skills to gain both knowledge and understanding of the diverse services within property services. You will work alongside experienced colleagues to provide an efficient and effective administrative support service. As you develop in the role you will be expected to show initiative, managing priorities and your own time, problem-solving skills, decision-making.

The apprenticeship will be office based in the Building Control department within the Housing & Property Service, Killingworth, North Tyneside. You will focus on providing a comprehensive administrative support service to include processing of building regulation applications, data entry into the building control service bespoke systems, answering the phone and helping to resolve queries, and booking site inspections.

You are likely to start with general admin duties, such as post, scanning, filing, and maintaining records. As your skills and confidence grow you will be expected to:

* To confidently respond to a high volume of incoming calls and emails.
* Accurate validation of building regulation applications in accordance with Building Regulations 2010 and building Act 1984.
* Booking site inspections.
* Precise diary management.
* Financial transactions - Invoicing, taking telephone payments, receipting, and recording of Building Control Fees.
* Data entry and maintaining accurate electronic records.
* Playing an active role in ensuring the service achieves all KPI’s and standards as set out in the Operational standards rules and monitoring arrangements.
* Proactively marketing the Building Control service and provide exemplary customer service
* Assist in the implementation of BS EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Standards.
* Other ad-hoc admin duties: post, printing and scanning etc.
* Respond to enquiries within our members enquiry system.
* Drafting correspondence and other documentation.
* Working with data to develop reports and provide information to others to help inform decisions.
* Be involved in project work.
* Use your interpersonal skills to develop good working relationships with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders.

You will be part of a specialist team supporting the building control clients, including architects, residents, contractors and developers.

You will attend regular meetings with your work mentor and tutor, have your work observed and attend regular taught sessions alongside other apprentices with a local training provider. Your apprenticeship will lead to a nationally recognised apprenticeship standard in Business Administration.
