Membership & Community Manager
The Role
Title: Membership & Community Manager
Location: London (hybrid)
Hours: Part-time/Freelance, 2–3 days per week to start (freelance or employed)
Salary: £250 a day
Reports to: Founder & Editor-in-Chief
Start: As soon as possible
You will work directly with the Founder to identify, approach and convert prospective members across our target cities, manage relationships with existing members, and help build the kind of community that people genuinely want to be part of.
This is not an admin role. It requires taste, initiative and the ability to write with conviction.
What You Will Do
* Identify and prospect new members across London, New York, Paris, Istanbul, Milan and beyond — designers, photographers, makers and creative studios
* Manage outreach via Instagram and email, in the Designeers voice and with genuine personal knowledge of each prospect's work
* Qualify applications using our curation criteria and manage the pipeline in Notion
* Follow up with warm leads and convert interested prospects into paying members
* Manage day‑to‑day member communications and keep relationships warm
* Coordinate with our editorial assistant on member features and editorial briefs
* Support logistics for member events - dinners, design week gatherings, members‑only travel experiences
* Keep the BlackBook CRM accurate and up to date at all times
Who You Are
You have come from the design world in some form - whether through a design school education, time at an editorial publication, gallery experience, or a role at a design platform or studio. You do not need to be a designer, but you need to genuinely understand what makes good design and who is doing interesting work.
You write well. You are organised without being rigid. You can hold a conversation with a leading interior designer or a collectible maker and understand what matters to each of them. You want to help build something, not just manage it.
* A genuine interest in or background in interior design, architecture, photography or the broader creative industries
* Experience in membership, community, editorial, PR or brand — or a strong transferable skillset
* Excellent written English and a natural feel for tone and voice
* Comfort with Notion, Instagram and email‑based workflows
* The initiative to work independently without needing to be directed at every step
What We Offer
* A hands‑on role at a platform with real momentum, working directly with the Founder
* Access to member events - design week dinners and city gatherings
* The opportunity to grow into a full‑time role as the platform scales
* Competitive day rate or part-time salary, commensurate with experience
