Thepany is known for itsmitment to safety (SHE), quality, and operational excellence, providing a structured and collaborative working environment within its operations team.Your new role:As a Mechanical Fitter, you will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and installation of mechanicalponents within a shipbuilding environment. Reporting to the Trade Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring work is delivered safely, to specification, and in line with quality and production targets.
Your key duties will include:
1. Fabricating, assembling, and installing shipponents in line with engineering drawings
2. Using a range of hand tools and mechanical equipment to carry out fitting activities
3. Interpreting fabrication and installation drawings accurately
4. Ensuring all work meetspany quality standards and tolerances
5. Working closely with supervisors and other trades to achieve team targets
6. Supporting shop floor activities and resolving practical issues
7. Maintainingpliance with all SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) regulations
8. Taking ownership of your work, ensuring it ispleted to a high standard and within deadlines
What you'll need to succeed:To be successful in this role, you will have:
9. Recognised mechanical trade qualification (trade papers)
10. Proven experience as a Mechanical Fitter, ideally in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy engineering
11. Strong ability to read and interpret fabrication and installation drawings
12. Good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes
13. Excellent hands-on skills using mechanical tools and equipment
14. Understanding of SHE practices and workplace safety requirements
15. Relevant safety certifications (, SHE induction, COSHH awareness, working at height)
16. A reliable, proactive attitude with strong teamwork andmunication skills
17. Ability to problem solve and adapt to changing work requirements
