Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated Reception Teaching Assistant for a rewarding 1:1 contract in New Malden. This role involves working closely with a young boy with high-level special educational needs, providing the consistent emotional and physical support required to access his learning safely.
This position is ideal for a practitioner who remains calm under pressure and is confident in managing physical outbursts and challenging behaviours with empathy and resilience.
Responsibilities
Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Reception-aged pupil with complex needs.
Implement positive behaviour management strategies to de-escalate physical behaviours.
Assist the class teacher in adapting the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to suit the pupil's specific requirements.
Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the SENCO and parents.
Foster a safe and inclusive learning environment where the pupil feels supported and understood.
Essential Candidate Requirements
Proven experience supporting primary-aged children with challenging behaviour.
Confidence and resilience in managing physical behaviours and high-level needs.
Ideally, experience supporting a variety of SEN, such as ASD or SEMH.
A patient, nurturing, and firm-but-fair approach to 1:1 support.
A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
