We are seeking a dedicated Support Workers to provide compassionate care and assistance to individuals in a residential home setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with children.
Main Purpose of the Job:
* To support vulnerable and challenging children and young people in a residential unit practically and emotionally.
* To assist them in working towards agreed plans for their future.
* To be responsible for the direct day-to-day care of the young people and other supportive tasks and responsibilities.
Main Tasks:
Professional Childcare Practice:
* Promote the normal development of children/young people through a healthy lifestyle and stimulating activities.
* Monitor and protect children/young people from signs of distress or abuse.
* Be sensitive to individual needs based on factors like race, culture, gender, sexuality, disability, language, and religion.
* Engage in communication with children/young people, observe their behaviour, and maintain records.
* Contribute to care planning and participate in reviews and meetings.
* Provide support and comfort to children/young people under stress and encourage appropriate behaviour and set boundaries when necessary.
* Attend to physical needs of children/young people, including cooking, washing, shopping, etc.
Key Worker Responsibilities:
* Take special responsibility for certain individual children/young people.
* Ensure their practical needs (dietary, healthcare, clothing, personal effects, etc.) are met.
* Address emotional needs by spending one-on-one time, discussing past and present difficulties, and promoting self-reliance.
* Maintain accurate records and represent them at meetings.
* Contribute to ongoing assessments and plans for these children/young people.
Relationships with Colleagues:
* Act as a positive and cooperative member of the staff team and participate in staff/team meetings, contribute to reports, and share/receive information.
* Work flexibly as per the unit's staffing needs and Keep colleagues informed of relevant developments.
* Collaborate with colleagues to maintain unit goals and plans, working together on shared tasks, such as visits to families and organizing leisure activities.
Expected hours: 40 per week
Experience:
* Residential Childcare: 1 year (preferred)
* Support Environment: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
* Driving Licence (preferred)
* NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
Work Location: In person
PMVA training essential requirement.

Pay: £13.00-£14.00 per hour
