Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year Requirements: We require proven experience fine-tuning machine learning and large language models in production environments. We require a strong track record of deploying AI models at scale and understanding real-world failure modes. We require hands-on experience with Generative AI and LLM architectures and frameworks. We require strong Python engineering capability and familiarity with ML tooling such as HuggingFace, PEFT, TRL, and W&B. We require experience working in cloud environments, with AWS preferred. We require the ability to operate as a player-coach, combining deep technical expertise with leadership. We require a pragmatic mindset and comfort working in ambiguous, evolving environments. We require excellent communication skills and the ability to engage senior stakeholders and influence direction. Responsibilities: We design and lead the end-to-end model fine-tuning strategy, including SFT, LoRA, QLoRA, and optimisation approaches. We select and evaluate base models such as Mistral, Qwen, Phi, and Falcon based on performance, cost, and use case. We define evaluation frameworks and standards to ensure models meet production-grade quality and reliability. We build and scale a suite of fine-tuned models to support multiple product use cases. We own experiment design and reproducibility, including tracking, benchmarking, and iteration cycles. We work closely with data, domain, and product teams to translate real-world requirements into model behaviour. We lead, mentor, and grow a team of ML Engineers while remaining hands-on technically. We drive models through to production environments, ensuring robustness, scalability, and performance.
